Frequently Asked Questions

The Basic Physical Defense program is a minimum of nine hours or twelve hours with simulation. The 9-12 hours are generally broken down in two, three or four session classes depending on scheduling necessity of participants and facility availability.

Simulation is when the participant is placed in a scenario that simulates situations the participant might face in real life. Simulations are performed only by certified instructors and control monitors to ensure a safe, controlled experience, for both the participant and instructor.

No, your participation in simulation is optional, however it is strongly encouraged. Simulation gives the participant the opportunity to use the skills she has just learned and see how they work in realistic scenarios.

No. This program is designed for the average woman with no previous experience or background in physical skills training.

Class size is limited to create comfortable learning environment and to ensure the safety of everyone participating.

Class dates will vary depending on demand, participation and facility availability. Class times will primarily depend on the need of the participants. Example: two six hour sessions on a weekend, three four hour sessions over the course of three weeks, etc…

Yes. If the current class is full you will be placed on our waiting list. Once we have enough interested people on our list we will schedule a class.

Yes. It is very common for mothers and daughters to attend the program together. In addition to developing and enhancing their options of self-defense, it generally seems to be a great bonding experience for them.11. Is there an age limit? Generally speaking, anyone age 10 to 90 may attend. 10-14 year olds can attend with a parent/legal guardian, 15-17 year olds with a signed permission slip/waiver from parent.

We offer classes in Basic Physical Defense, Advanced Self Defense, Keychain Defense Options and Aerosol Defense Options.

Please bring a pen with you for note taking and consider bringing a towel, water and whatever snacks you might want. Please dress comfortably in loose, workout type attire and either tennis shoes, basketball shoes, aerobic shoes or multipurpose shoes as running shoes, do not provide proper side to side support.

Any woman with the desire to share this information with other women may become an Instructor. Men who wish to become RAD Instructors must have a law enforcement background or be willing to submit to a background investigation
